The Use of Contrast-Enhanced Sonography for Therapy Monitoring of Metastatic Lymph Nodes: A Systematic Review

چکیده

Metastatic cervical lymph nodes are a frequent finding in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). If non-surgical approach is primarily chosen, therapy response evaluation of the primary tumor affected necessary follow-up. Supplementary contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) can be used to precisely visualize microcirculation target lesion neck, whereby malignant benign findings differ their uptake behavior. The same applies many other solid tumors. For various entities, it has already been shown that monitoring possible through regular sonography or nodes. Thus, some cases, maybe future, change strategy achieved at an early stage case non-response or, success, de-escalation subsequent (surgical) measures achieved. In this paper, systematic review available studies discussion potential by means CEUS HNSCC presented.

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound sonography optimises the assessment of lymph nodes in oncology

Ultrasound sonography (US) plays an important role in the assessment of lymph nodes in oncology. However, ultrasound findings are often equivocal in not allowing the differentiation of reactive from metastatic lymph nodes. Here, we present the successful use of contrast-enhanced US in the assessment of a metastatic lymph node, improving the performance of conventional US and optimising the US-g...

Contrast enhanced ultrasound of sentinel lymph nodes

Sentinel lymph nodes are the first lymph nodes in the region that receive lymphatic drainage from a primary tumor. The detection or exclusion of sentinel lymph node micrometastases is critical in the staging of cancer, especially breast cancer and melanoma because it directly affects patient's prognosis and surgical management. Currently, intraoperative sentinel lymph node biopsies using blue d...
